By this time, your baby has become much more attentive of the outer world. He begins to give his responses in terms of sound, movement, touch and light. For instance, a loud noise or sound may cause him to jump or move around actively in response to that sound or noise. It is not necessary that every time you feel the movement of your baby.
Development in 19th Week Pregnancy
By now, a large amount of activity is going on in your baby’s brain as millions of cells are produced and brain and muscles are now linked through nerves which help your baby to have a good control over his movements. Although, the number of nerve cells in your baby’s brain is exactly the same as that of adults, the protected layer of myelin is yet to be formed. Your baby develops deposits of brown fats around his neck, chest and groin. The temperature regulating system is still under the process of formation. The development of placenta is completed by this time and now it is gaining size. This size of the placenta is almost the same as that of your baby in the amniotic fluid.
Appearance in 19th Week Pregnancy
The previously flat ears of your baby are now more prominent from the sides of the head. Behind the buds of the mil teeth, permanent tooth buds take their position. The skin of the baby is wrinkled and enclosed in a waxy substance known as vernix. Vernix is produced by the sebaceous glands and is waterproof. It helps to keep the baby from infections.
Movement in 19th Week Pregnancy
Most of the times, women begin to feel any movement made by baby by 22nd week of pregnancy. However, some women begin to feel these movements earlier as well. With the development of the nerve cells, your baby has now developed a good control over his movements. He still kicks his legs, stretch his arms, making fists with his hands, and clenching and unclenching his fists.
You can observe the movements through ultrasound scan. Even you can see a tiny tongue when he will open his mouth and making different expressions.
