With the start of the 20th week of pregnancy, the growth of the baby slows down. He is now half of the length of an average baby. The weight of the baby at this stage is assumed to be 340 grams. At this stage, your baby appears to be like a small mango. This is the stage from where the weight of the baby will increase at the rate of 50 grams a week.
Development in 20th Week Pregnancy
It is the time when the emphasis of growth is solely on lungs, digestive system and immune system. About 7 to 17 ml of urine is passed through the kidneys of a baby every day. Sensory cells are developing inside the brain that controls the taste, smell, hearing, sight and touch. You can now hear a heartbeat of your baby with the help of stethoscope.
Appearance in 20th Week Pregnancy
The baby is still thin and looks very weak. The eyes of the baby seem quite bigger, perhaps because of the shape of the head which is not yet shaped fully. You can see his eyes moving, although the eyes are closed. Eyelashes and eyelids are more evident now. The number of hairs increases on his head.
Movement in 20th Week Pregnancy
The nervous system is developing quickly which helps the baby to control his movements. Your baby is energetic, moving, rolling and turning his body in the amniotic fluid.
