24 Weeks Pregnant

It is the stage which is normally considered for your baby as viable. By this we mean that you baby is proficient enough to survive in the external world. But this largely depends on the location or region where you are living in. In case your baby born prematurely at this stage, he can still live on in the Special Care Baby Unit aiding with different medical expertise and a ventilator.
Development in 24th Week Pregnancy
The development is still going on. The lungs are continued to grow as more and more air sacs are formed with each passing week. By now, she has had enough amount of breathing practice by taking small amount of fluid in and out of the lungs. A lot of activities are going on in your baby’s growth such as, his impulse rate increases, his bones are getting stronger and harder.
Appearance in 24th Week Pregnancy
Your baby at this stage normally appears to be the one when he is born but with an only exception that the face is not completely rounded. Although, the eyelashes and eyebrows are quite definite by now, the eyes of your baby is still closed. The hairs on his head become more prominent and you can even tell the color of his hairs at this point of pregnancy.
Movement in 24th Week Pregnancy
The movements of your baby have become quite clear. He not only gives responses against touch and sound, but rhythmic movements in your lower abdomen suggest that you baby is having hiccup.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I am 24 weeks pregnant and have just started antenatal classes. I am convinced that my bump is much smaller than everyone else’s in the group and now I am worried that my baby is not growing properly.
If you have developed any such feeling, it is better to discuss the matter with your midwife. She will perform some antenatal checks and try to restore your confidence. Your midwife will perform different checks including the one in which she observes the top of the uterus to make certain that the development is normal and the size is right for your pregnancy. In case of any concern, your midwife will refer you to the hospital for growth scans. It is important to note here that the bump size vary from women to women. There are so many factors that determine the size of the bump such as if you are having your first baby or second, the amount of fluid around the baby in the uterus, height of the women, and the position of the baby.
